Video Games in the collectible market

Post by Herbert »

I was poking around ebay the other day and noticed that lots of a dozen or so, + or -, Super Nintendo cartridges were actually selling much higher than I expected. I suppose I'm just not up on what old games are currently fetching on ebay. I then looked up a bunch of my SNES and NES games and man some of those might be worth selling.

Of course, we're not talking about big bucks here. I don't have anything still sealed but I do have all the original boxes with instruction manuals and even some of the other inserts. It's got me thinking, sell or hold for now?

Any thoughts?

Its definitely a niche market and not something I'm familiar with

For me, I'd probably have them graded and sell

Just like comics, the scarcer games are worth more than most of the popular games. I remember seeing those games on the shelves and passing them up for other games. I still have some of my SNES games, but I sold a bunch a while ago.

I remember walking into a KB Toys location once and they had a bunch of NES games marked way down on clearance. I bought several but I should have bought more and kept them in the shrink.
