Hero worship and deification
I'm starting this topic because of the sheer number of hero worship pages that are prevalent on social media
Elon Musk is one that the virtue signallers really seem to love.
I've pointed out to people that true geniuses don't have themselves pose in front of their businesses in egotistical fashion. I imagine the man is quite intelligent, but I'm dubious of calling him a genius. In fact, I believe he has stated he is not, but surrounds himself with very intelligent people.
Then you have your usual celebrity worship.
I'll post more on the topic later, I've actually exhausted myself right now

Re: Hero worship and deification
I realise this an old thread, so it's probably moot of me saying that his popularity has flipped, possibly caused by buying the US Democratic party's propaganda platform Twitter.

I know what you mean, I've been watching too many conspiracy videos. I think the whole world has, so when they actually see shit happening their minds can't handle the reality of it.

Remember when the internet was fun? They've weaponized it and censored it to the point of soul sucking
There are very few places worth going to these days

Fun.. when our generation called us geeks and nerds and claimed we were addicted to the inter thingy the asked us to help them open a browser window or connect to the internet (fun, frustrating times)

Re: Hero worship and deification
I meant to ask this a while ago, but what do/did you dislike about the concept? I thought it might be a good place to maintain an online journal or column of sorts since newspapers were fast disappearing. I also thought it had great potential for businesses(restaurants in particular) to announce short time promotions or flash sales.

150 character limit, nonsensical format, it became what it was designed to be, a buzzword haven to progressively spread propaganda and a giant billboard for ads.steveinthecity wrote: βMon Aug 28, 2023 1:13 amI meant to ask this a while ago, but what do/did you dislike about the concept? I suppose I held out different hopes for the platform. I realize Iβm often an optimist by default, and this was one of those times. As for what it became, I should have expected the worst from people on the internet.MetalPSI wrote: βMon Aug 28, 2023 8:59 am150 character limit, nonsensical format, it became what it was designed to be, a buzzword haven to progressively spread propaganda and a giant billboard for ads.steveinthecity wrote: βMon Aug 28, 2023 1:13 amI meant to ask this a while ago, but what do/did you dislike about the concept?
