Which Star Trek was it when the crew encountered a virus that was bigger than they were and was running around the ship
This one?

No, it was either TNG or Voyager I think. The CGI was terrible. The virus would attack the crew, but they made personal force fields to protect themselves
Definitely doesn't sound like TOS or TNG, but does have a Voyager vibe to it.

So, apparently a lightsaber through the gut, cooking and cauterizing all the tissue it touches through and through, isn't a death sentence.
I keep up with the shows via select podcasts and, while I'm aware of the bias, I sift through the hyperbole that occasionally finds its way into their reviews and note the constant bait & switch, plot-holes, and poor writing they report.

When people were outraged that Kenobi barely (and ridiculously) escaped Vader, they said it destroyed Vader's line in A New Hope, "When I left you I was but the learner. Now I am the Master!" I admit I initially joined in the outrage, but then started thinking it's possible they may fight again in the last episode, with Kenobi kicking Vader's butt.
:o We don't have a popcorn emoji???

Anyway, I'm happy for the fans who've been entertained with the series or last couple episodes, but I just can't appreciate anything Disney does right now. Their holier than thou attitude toward the built-in fanbase for the IP's they're destroying is insulting when they're bending over and letting China (after they're finished consummating their relationship with LeBron) slide it in to the balls and simultaneously verifying Marvel removed or reduced any images of black people from movie posters, and signing off on the daily list of new concentration camp inmates. They use identity politics as a shield against poor products, and label fans who have anything negative to say online as racist, misogynist homophobes.
:banana-fingers:

Lando Calrissian is a beloved character because he has depth and was "cool", but even back when Empire first came out, I guarantee starving fans would have been upset if she had been Landa, the film's main hero/character, upstaging and reducing Luke and Han while seducing Leia ( ). As it is, they simply introduced him and had him join in their struggle, and we accepted him. They didn't give him all the resources and abilities required to best every foe at every encounter. He had the upper hand when his alliance with Vader was revealed, but it was all under Vader's thumb. He betrays the Empire, freeing Leia, Chewie, & the droids, but fails to save Han. He manages to retrieve Luke and get his new allies off the cloud city, but because his crew failed to reconnect the hyperdrive, they're chased by Vader before narrowly escaping. His character grew at a relatively natural pace, with success and failure, and wasn't simply amazing by default. Now he's legendary in the story.

I also have no intention of getting anywhere near Amazon's The Rings of Power. In a nutshell; LOTR is Fantasy, SW is Space Fantasy, & The Marvel Super-Heroes is pure escapism. If you shove the real world and its politics into these beloved IP's, they're no longer Fantasy, they're real-world, and offer nowhere for people to escape. Some claim it makes Tolkien "accessible", as though ONLY white heterosexual men have ever enjoyed his work

I've said many times; if these activists D+ casts to be writers and directors are so talented, then create something new instead of inserting an (admittedly, by Ingram) obvious diversity hire after offering one thing and delivering another. Claiming a character is amazingly popular because the episode with their debut had many viewers, when everyone is tuning in to see the show's namesake, and future hero of the rebellion is transparently deceptive.
:naughty:

Yet another rant over. :text-thankyouyellow:

I'm only upset with Lucas because he sold his product to Disney. Sure, they (she) lied up a storm when they said Star Wars will be protected, but he believed it.
For someone who had the brilliant foresight to deal with the studios as he did back in the 70's, it's unfortunate that he couldn't see the emergence of the Dark Side happening on the other side of the table. He was clearly exhausted with the brand, but I don't doubt for ONE SECOND that if he had a glimpse of its future (what we have today), he wouldn't have done it as is.

I just heard that the original idea for Kenobi was a trilogy of films.

Forgot all about the “Frito Bandito”, a long gone racist stereotype who amused children and adults alike with his mustache twirling and catchy jingle expressing his joy for a salty fried corn snack that he threatened to take from the viewer at gunpoint.

I bet these pencil toppers were a valued currency in Elementary school classrooms across America during the Nixon years. Do kids still even use pencils? Anyway, the character was created by Tex Avery and brought to life voice-wise by Mel Blanc.

Hope Frito-Lay doesn't get cancelled for such a blatant disrespectful attack on Hispanic Americans.

I think Chester Cheetah made everyone forget plain old Frito’s(“Your Grandpa’s snack food!”) with the promise of dehydrated cheese powder goodness sometime in the 1980’s.

Anyway, Frito-Lay puts dollars back into the Hispanic arts & entertainment communities currently so everyone is happy.

'Member berries.
Anyone remember the early episodes of Hogan's Heroes before Major Hochstetter became Gestapo? Klink ordered him around like he was his bitch. Of course that changed when Hochstetter donned the SS uniform.
That was one of my early history lessons teaching that rank didn't always mean what it usually means.

I’ve got to look out for those episodes now that you’ve mentioned that. I think I turn off parts of my brain when I watch that show because any continuity after the first season or so can be a train wreck.

I started reading an article apparently about the significance of cheeseburgers in the MCU shows starting with Iron Man and Stark's request for an "American Cheeseburger."
Its next reference was Avengers #60 (volume whatever it is now) and Hawkeye eating a cheeseburger while arguing with a Celestial. That's when I stopped reading.

Sounds like I can't take the comics 'seriously' either.
