Re: My big noobs
Ugh! Made the last time payment on these. With the commission's final payment and these, I'm officially a ba-a-a-ad boy
I need to sell books, either on the forums or MCS, but what a pain

Re: My big noobs
I probably shouldn't have spent the money, but I'm addicted to commissions.
EDIT: I tried to put everything in spoilers, but apparently more then one spoiler in a post doesn't work. It only shows the first spoiler, even if the third is clicked on.
Somewhat inspired by these 3 pages (not commissions, obviously), including Brent Anderson's inks over his original pencils from The Art of Comic Book Inking...

... Plus by the fact that, as awesome an artist as Val Semeiks is, his inks lack a certain discipline to add depth to a drawing, namely the "line weight."
So, even though I didn't have the greatest of experiences with John Dell, I realize he is probably the best inker to work on Val's pencils. I decided there was little to lose, besides the fee or the work itself, if he were to ink from the high res pencil scans provided by Val. He said he could print it out in blue line, and ink as if it were a comic book page. I sent the scans from the Lobo vs Wolverine I recently got from Val, and John immediately got to work.
I have to say it is amazing. The lines are cleaner and have that "line weight" adding separation and distance between objects and body parts. Val's inks on his original pencils are on the left (or first, depending on your screen size), and John's inks over blue line is next.

I don't want to do this too much, as the funds could be used for new and unique art, but I can't help but wonder how Dell's inks would look over Ron Frenz

Re: My big noobs
I honestly never really cared too much about the inkers since I thought they just inked over the artist's pencils. The Lobo vs. Wolverine sample really give a completely different vibe, but both look super busy. I could barely tell Wolverine was in the picture on the top sample because he seemed to blend into the background. If not for his mask and stripes, he was hard to see. The second picture, it took a second to realize he planted his claws into Lobo's arm.
The other pieces, I'm assuming it's Darkhorse Ghost, beautiful work regardless of who inked it.

Re: My big noobs
I commissioned another piece from Val Semeiks and John Dell. John printed a blueline scan for the original pencils, so they're two separate pieces.
I do not like the idea of AI robots. It's like these yahoos never saw a sci-fi film, or they did, and they WANT to be "Miles Dyson."
Anyway, if anyone knows the dance scene from the film m3gan, this is my idea for a solution.
M3gan meets Magnus Robot Fighter.
